In the world of luxury second-hand goods, the condition of a bag is a fundamental criterion.
It influences not only its price, but also its desirability, longevity, and buyer confidence.
At Houlux, we have implemented a clear, honest, and rigorous rating system to offer complete transparency to our customers. Each bag is carefully evaluated, taking into account its actual condition, past use, and accessories.

Why we never give 10/10 ratings

Even when a bag is brand new, never worn and complete , we never give it the maximum rating.
A bag sold second-hand, however perfect it may be, does not come directly from the Hermès store .
For the sake of transparency and honesty, the maximum rating at Houlux is therefore 9.5/10 .

Our detailed rating scale

9.5/10 — “Mint condition”: straight from the store

• Bag never worn

• Complete full set (box, dust bag, bell, padlock, invoice)

• No signs of use

• In the same condition as if purchased from a store, without actually having come from one directly.

8 to 9/10 — near mint condition

• Bag worn once or very rarely

• Neutral and extremely clean state

• May not be a full set

• No defects visible to the naked eye
  

👉 Ideal for immediate use without aesthetic compromise.

7.5/10 — excellent condition

• Bag carried

• Very well preserved

• May show slight signs of wear

• Not all accessories are necessarily included.
  

👉 Excellent balance between condition, authenticity and value.

7/10 — Very good condition

• Bag often vintage

• Worn but without visible flaws

• Sound structure, well-preserved leather

• Natural patina possible
  

👉 A bag with a history, but without any noticeable aesthetic alteration.

6.5/10 — Good condition

• Vintage bag with some visible flaws

• Signs of normal wear and tear

• s for his age

• Marked patina, light scratches, discoloration or slightly faded gilding possible
  

👉 An authentic bag, with character and a story.

Our minimum acceptance threshold: 6/10

At Houlux, the minimum rating we accept is 6/10 .
This choice is deliberate and reflects our high standards in selection.

Even at a 6/10 , a bag remains:

• perfectly authentic ,

• structurally sound ,

• functional ,

• without major defects compromising its use or aesthetics.
  
  

We only select bags in very good general condition , even when they are vintage.
Parts with significant defects, structural damage or excessive wear will not be accepted .

A transparent and realistic assessment

Each grade is assigned after a thorough inspection :

Any potential defects are always described and photographed, so that each customer knows exactly what they are buying.
